Our garden is mainly inside a screened in lanai- everything planted in medium and large containers. Our cats also have access to the plants (we allow them out on the screened in lanai during the day) so I didn't want to blast the plants with anything toxic, since I never know when one of my cats might decide to either eat a leaf or bury something in the dirt.So we decided to give the Safer brand a go. This spray does work, but it's sort of touch and go- on some plants, it *does* damage the leaves (not killing them, but turning them red/brown) and it takes many consistent and through applications to eliminate the pest problem. Don't expect to spritz the plant a few times and have the insects gone. And I really can't imagine application on a LARGE plant in a fully outdoor area (no screen)- it would... Our garden is just getting started - no tomatos yet. We do have a bunch of other vegetables though and some are showing signs of insect damage. I also have some tulips that are getting eaten up. I used this on both the vegetables and the tulips. It seemed to work and did not do any damage - even to the smaller saplings. I left one plant untreated as a "control" and it clearly had more insect damage than the treated plants. If you buy it to spray your whole garden--and your garden is larger than ten plants or so--then I think you'll be less than satisfied. It's not really for large treatments--your trigger finger (and your pocketbook) will take a beating if you attempt to spray a large area with many large or tall or leafy plants.We have many veggie gardens around the house and the largest is about 25' X 25'. We have major problems with the cucumber beetle and sometimes the tomato hornworm. When I see those bag guys, I like to zap them quick. Often I don't have time to mix up a batch of spray for a thorough job, so I use this product.
