It is lightweight and takes up as much space as my rolled up, small thermarest sleeping pad. It may be to large for backpacking unless you have ample space in your pack but it is perfect for car camping, plane rides, and long car trips.I have had no issues with the pillow and like that it contains a pouch to add extra thickness by adding clothing. Stuff sack seems slightly cheap so don't cinch it down to hard. The pillow however is good to go for the size. You have the choice to use the nylon side or a softer cloth side. You can then pull the front cover over the pillow to have nylon on both sides for extra protection from a wet enviroment.Haven't tested if its waterproof however. Buy it. Made in China. Fabric is nylon with a slight textured pattern in the nylon on the top side, making it slightly rough against your face, subtle but there. The under side of the pillow is black cotton/polyester and the filling is polyester batting. Not a bad price but a case where you get what you pay for. The nice features are the size, the sleeve built into the top of the pillow(they suggest if you want more loft you can stuff your own jacket into the sleeve) and the draw string matching nylon pouch that comes with it (rolls up in the pouch). The down sides are the average quality of the materials, average amount of loft, that it does compress but not very much,bulkier than some others and lastly that it comes in assorted colors so you do not get to choose. Mine arrived in a dull brick red color that I do not really like and would not have picked. I would have preferred the green but you do not get to input a preference, so you will be stuck...
